Importing from Obsidian & Notion

Bring Markdown files from your computer into a repository — or an Obsidian vault or a Notion export, links and pictures included.

  1. The Import button beside New Note in the sidebar, or ⌘K → Import Markdown files.
  2. Pick Markdown files, Obsidian vault or Notion export, then the repository and the folder the notes go into.
  3. Choose files…, Choose a folder…, or drop them on the dialog. Check where each note will land, then Import.

Markdown files

Any .md files, or a folder of them. They come across exactly as written; a folder keeps its own sub-folders, and pictures beside the notes are copied too. A name that is already taken in that folder gets a number instead, and the dialog says which.

Obsidian

Choose the vault folder. Folders and front matter come across as they are; ![[picture.png]] becomes an ordinary image and ![[Note]] a [[Note]] link. .obsidian and .trash are left behind.

Notion

In Notion: Settings → Export all workspace content → Markdown & CSV. Unzip it and choose the folder. The long ids Notion adds to names are removed and links are rewritten to match. Database tables (CSV) are skipped, and the import says so.

Nothing already in the notebook is overwritten. Pictures, PDFs and recordings are copied; anything else, and any file over 3 MB, is listed as left out.
